I called around because I needed a ring resized. Mind you I needed to make it smaller, so I needed some gold taken OUT of it.. I swear to you every place I called said the DOWNSIZING was MORE EXPENSIVE because you had to ADD gold... Ok look I'm no genious, but I think that to smake something SMALLER you would TAKE something OUT of it, NOT PUT IT IN! I swear and then they said the complete opposite for upsizing.. Are you SERIOUS? Ok so I am convinced that I am the only person around here that knows the difference between UP and DOWN... So have you ever had anything like this happen to you after calling several different places? Am I right or am I crazy? Does anyone know what they are talking about anymore?

What in the hell, Carissa! I really think those guys are crazy! What's wrong in taking some gold out of your ring? I mean, they should even pay you, since they would be earning some gold. A gold that they could melt and use to make another thing! Why would they want you to pay them to add more gold? You really should ask the clerk about this. How is the downsizing process done, and check if it really needs some gold. Or, other than that, just ask for an upsizing... Because they think that upsizing is making it smaller, and downsizing is making it bigger! lol

Yeah they are all probably confused. I don't know they need to re-read their jewelers manual.. lol.. Thank you for posting.

I think how it works is that a piece of the ring has to be cut out & then repaired with piece to hold it back together. I don't quite get why they can't use a piece of what they cut out. How big of a size difference is it from what you want? There are inexpensive little pieces that can go inside of a ring to take make it smaller if you only need one size smaller.

I looked for those the other day and they were out of them, and yes it is only one size smaller. I knew my grandma used to have those little plastic things and she used them all the time. See and I don't know why they can't use a piece of what they cut out either. That is stupid.. thank you for posting
