Mortred the Phantom Assassin

Well, I have been playin with Mortred for 4 years now. And I have realised that lifesteal is compulsory for Mortred. I usually go for Mask of Madness or Satanic. The damage item has got to be Battle Fury as it provides splash damage. So if u land a crit on a creep, u will get almost all the creep kills. This is very important as Mortred has no area of effect spells and Radiance defeats the purpose of Blur. After that, if the game is not over, I go for Monkey King Bar. The bonus 100 damage 30% of the time may pale in comparison to the awesome crits, but can noway be neglected. And I have seen many people who use shadow strike first and then blink strike. THIS IS FOOLISHNESS. First use blink strike and then shadow strike. U can land more shots when the enemy is slowed, compared to Shadow strike and then blink. I hope ull agree. Sange and Yasha may be tempting but is not advisable as maim and ms are not much needed for Mortred qho has got Shadow strike and blink strike. And not getting S&Y means that we can go for better lifesteal items like MoM or Satanic.what have u got to say? I will appreciate even criticism if done in the right spirit.

im not much of a DotA player but i love Mortred, i think mortred is one of the most powerful hero's on DotA. my best items are:
*Butz of travel
*Battle fury
*Buriza
*Stanic
*Vladimir
*BKB(for magical enemy) or butterfly
hehehehe....
better be careful for some hero's that has return damage.

those items are very expensive and are of use during the later parts of the game...if you like mortred to pawn early,here is my mid game item build. power treads,stygian desolator (this is the best item for mortred!!)after getting these two you can now aim for a buriza and whichever item you would like.. trust me.. hehehehe

I've gotta say 4 years is a long time man. I've been only on DotA for 2 years. Anyway back to business, In every mortred ownage game i've seen players getting satanic,mkb,butter,burize(no longer working),and so on. But i gotta say the strongest mortred i ever fought was using this build
(boots of travel, skadi, butter, mkb, assault cuirass, radiance)
Even without lifesteal he packs a punch. Im sorry i dont have the replay .. i think i lost it. Anyway your guide is excellent.. keep up the DotA spirit :D.. I rate this guide a 10 out of 10 .

Lifesteal is very important for phantom assassin. However mask of madness is the worst lifesteal item you can get. The best would be helmet of dominator which is cheap and gives you more damage and the ability to dominate creeps for stacking. the two most common builds on phantom assassin by higher caliber players are the helm of dominator and mkb build or the vlads and desolator build.
