Should the jury system be done away with? Especially in cases involving medicine/subjects that require proior knowledge ? My stand: I think the jury system should be removed ...cos the jury in genral has a greater chance of being ignorant and hence biased.Decisions made by the jury is usually based on pre conceived notions than based on facts presented.

well traffic its differnet almost everyone drives and so prolly can make the right decision but then again its gonna be a buiased decision based on the background of the defendant etc when it comes to issues invovlin expertise .......the jury is ill informed .......Eg lets say medical neglegience.......well 99% jury starts with assumptions that the Dr is rich and so should pay whether he was negligient or not........Many assume all Drs do get huge cuts from pharm cmpys etc.....and so shouldnt be allowed to keep the money For starters the jury system is obsolete .......And to follow it up it has a bunch of people who are ill informed and biased .....how can justice be served ?

I agree. Juries can easily be swayed by a single strong personality in the group. There have even been studies done that show that, if you're innocent, you're better off with a judge than with a jury.

In civil situations, I agree, a judge would be better at deciding than a jury. However, in a criminal situation, a jury is still the best. You have to have all 12 people convinced of your guilt or you go free, even if 11 think you're guilty and one doesn't.

I think there should be a better way. I don't know how it should work but all i know is there are allot of guilty people on the streets and allot on innocent people locked up in jail.

well now a days it's part of the job so they should be prepaired for it! I think there should be a cap on the amount they should have to pay but if they make a mistake they should be resposible just Like everybody else when they make a mistake! It's not a rip off to perfect your skills! They are not special should not be treated that way either. What would you do if you went for surgery and they took off the wrong leg or wrong arm????
