Free legal assistance in US

We often listen from people being removed from work wrongfully and without a proper and adequate reason.. I did come across one such instance here at mylot.. i don't reside in US, but i come to understand that it costs a fortune to hire a private attorney on ur behalf..(am i wrong?) So, how does one goes about gettin' justice? if someone loses a job, do u remain quite, coz, u cannot afford legal assistance.. I was wondering, there must be some means thro' which everyone is entitled 4 legal help.. now, isnt' that sense?
