My boyfriend just sent me this article about the show Man v. Wild: http://www.abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/story?id=3412744&page=1 How does this make you feel about the show? Will you continue to watch? I likely will as I find the show pretty entertaining and really fun to watch. However, I never thought it provided survival information that I could actually do. For one thing Bear is in amazing shape. I can't climb or hike like he can. I think I actually like the show Survivorman a bit better, I feel some of his tips might be slightly more realistic.

"The Show Rockzz" This all is the channel's move to gain attention and the fired up local survivor experts also who think they can do better or else.. whatever Bear is the one which we know not what they trying to prove. Records are with his name from Everest to sky of which others keep dreaming to. Just stay with him in any of the show and they'll get there hard answer.

I'll still watch it. First of all, the show was always staged. It had to be to get the camera in place before and after Bear did a stunt. Secondly, it was fairly obvious that Bear used local guides (as seen in the credits) to beef up his knowledge of local flora and fauna. And lastly, the Times misquoted the guide (Mark Wienert) and took his comments out of context. It was a "gotcha" piece with the sole purpose of taking Bear down a peg and putting a feather in the cap of the journalist. In this case, he bent the facts to sound more sensationalistic. Check out these links: http://bearsknife.blogspot.com/2007/07/former-guide-sinks-bears-raft.html - with comments from the actual guide. http://bearsknife.blogspot.com/2007/08/bear-grylls-confesses-sorta.html http://beargrylls.blogspot.com/2007/08/sahara-filming-update.html/ - Bear's own comments on the subject, plus testimonials from other explorers. It was a hit piece by the Times, built on by the Daily Mail and regurgitated by ABC and others. I'll be there for season three. The show rocks.

I take the ABC news story with a grain of salt. They are impying that nearly everything is staged and there is as yet no evidence to support that. Discovery channel mentioned two occasions where the crew was provided assistance, that is hardly every minute of every episode. Some of it however has to be staged, by Bear himself. We are going to cross here, I am going to do this...I need a camera here and a camera there etc, etc. It's still an entertaining and fun show and I will still watch it.

I watch the show too. I thought the show was real. I thought he was really showing people how to survive in those situations. Like you, I have thought that I myself couldn't do anything he's done. Who would be able to or have the mind set to do those things?
