Have you jump start or run start a manual gear car in second gear?

I have, I had a flat battery one day, and because my drive way was down hill, I turned the key on, and ran the car in neutral, down the drive, whacked it into second gear, and I was on my way visiting LOL... Post up and let me know if you have experienced anything like in your time? Thanks in advance...

I don't drive, but when I was living with my Foster mother, she had this old car that always ran out of gas, and in order to make do, she'd coast the car down the hills, and we would be driving on the fumes as it were. I think we were able to make about forty miles to the gallon using this method. That was way back in the late 1960s, way before the gas crisis.
