That's so gross!

Awhile ago, I went into the kitchen and grabbed my water bottle from the bottom of the refrigerator. I was in the middle of chugging some nice, cool water, when I realized that the water had a funny brownish tint to it. At first I felt compelled to spit out the offending brown water, until I remembered that my kid had bragged about putting tea into something earlier. I guess she was trying to warn me that she had turned my entire bottle of chilled water into very diluted tea! Gross! Needless to say, it ruined the bottled water experience for me. I guess I should have been watching what I was drinking closer. I will next time! That's not the first time I have had a close call with liquids. When I was a kid, I was in the middle of dinner and went to take a sip of milk and a big fat bug popped up in my cup. It still makes me shudder to think about it. Has that ever happened to you? Have you ever been in the middle of drinking something and realized that there was a bug in your cup? Have you ever taken a big swig of juice, only to realize that it had gone sour several weeks before? (That happened to me!) Please share.

The first things that came into my head were when I was a kid. My mom was very very messy and we were infested with cockroaches. They were a few times they would get into the food. I wouldn't eat it once it was discovered. But once my mom made spaghetti and I found a roach right on my fork swimming in the sauce all tangled up in the noodles. I pushed it away and couldn't eat. Then my uncle flicked the roach on the floor and ate the rest of my spaghetti. Vomit now! I guess that is part of the reason I am a minimalist now and live green. I am very cautious of what goes in my mouth. LOL Vicki

I have learned, the hard way, to never drink after my younger children. Especially if they are using a straw or one of those squeeze type bottles. You would be amazed at what those things can suck back in from the child's mouth. We also keep any type of a drink we have made that gets stored in a pitcher separate from our children's. They like to put theres on the table and put a straw in it and drink. All three of them will sit around it with a straw in. Or they will put things in there that just don't belong. Do they outgrow this??? LOL!! I feel for ya.

I don't think I've ever drank anything with something nasty in it, except maybe a hair or something like that. Never a bug or anything. And I've always been careful to sniff things before I take a drink of them if they are anywhere even remotely close to the expiration date. I have, however, eaten bad cottage cheese. The date was fine on it, and I had a little bit of a cold so I couldn't smell it. I gave my son a few bites first, and he made a funny face but continued to eat it. When he stopped before his bowl was all gone, I tried a bite of it, and just about got sick! I felt sooo bad for giving it to my child. But he didn't get sick so we were lucky there. From then on, I try everything that could spoil before I give it to my son.

I think that maybe I had a traumatic experience once when i was a kid and i've blocked it out of my head. I'm pretty crazy about inspecting food and drinks before eating/drinking them. I'd never drink water without making sure it had nothing in it and wasn't brown first. I don't drink milk that's within 3 days of the expiration date. I'm really weird about all that stuff!

ha ha! since my experienced with a fastfood restaurant before, i ordered barbeque , as i was about to eat, i notice something moving in the meat, i examine it closely and OMG it was there underneath each pieces of meat.really yucky! i did not refund my money, but i talk to the store owner to check their food, and be careful next time... since then, i always take a careful look in what i eat or drink. it became a habit. even in buying anything bottled from a supermarket, i always check it, you'll never know, sometimes there is something inside that should not be there.
