Sorry... I just have to marvel at what my granddaughter comes up with, week in, week out. This is her latest invention, which she showed me with pride today. Great Gran had a new carpet fitted, which had some offcuts. It was a white, furry carpet with a foam backing... a sort of waffled backing. Lauren took the offcuts and shaped them into a furry jerkin and backpack for her doll. She really has excelled this time! lol. The jerkin has one button, and two heart-shapes cut out of it, and the backpack is like a satchel shape, with velcro sewn to it, for the closing. This is the best, so far... I have put a pic in here showing the jerkin from the front, and will post others in my profile, if anybody is interested enough to have a look. :) She is now in the process of making some furry boots... ha ha ha... my idea! I'm beginning to wonder what I'll stumble upon next week... I can't believe how she amuses herself for hours on end, inventing these bits and pieces, and all from a couple of carpet offcuts... amazing!

It's not a case of having forgotten... more a case of "Where the heck in the loft did I put the patterns?" ha ha ha. It's very hot up there at the moment and there is such a lot of stuff... I'll get there sometime. Perhaps I can persuade Tony to come and help me thin it out a bit, again. A lot of the trouble was, they were, some 3 months ago, coming to fit a new kitchen, and I didn't want them to just rip out and discard my existing cupboards, so I took most of them down, and put them in the loft, together with a lot of the contents. So, it's overcrowded now. You'll have to bear with me for a while longer, I'm afraid, Gabs. I DID forget which one you wanted though! Was it the blue one with the star hanging off the moon? If so, that's the bedtime bear, and I will hunt it out for you. Love and hugs. xx

Well, we'll see. I'm not even sure what she wants to be when she grows up, but she has a big interest in acting and dancing, so she could go one of several different ways. lol.

That would be nice... she could make her own Christmas presents. lol. I think we all marvel at and are proud of what our children manage to achieve throughout their lives. I really think she would like to be a professional dancer or actress when she grows up, but we'll see, huh? Plenty of time for final decisions yet. :) Brightest Blessings.

I certainly hope the World will be her Oyster because she works hard, is very talented and imaginative and deserves something special from life.. my granddaughter, or not. It is a nice warm carpet, MsTickle which I think you might appreciate at times! lol. Don't they usually make wigs from such things? That's another concept for her to follow. lol. Brightest Blessings.

Thank you Cher. I really hope she does invent or design something which will make a name for her when she's older. I'll bet one thing... her kids will have great fun, with their Mum. :)

I love hearing about Lauren's new inventions. She is a very talented little girl. I went and had a look at the other pics. Her little inventions are endless. I reckon she will do something very creative when she grows up. It sounds like she can keep herself busy for ages. So many kids cant these days. Best wishes to you, darkwing. And you have a beautiful granddaughter

Awwwwww, thank you Kay. I'm only too happy to write about her, as long as I'm not boring people with her antics... the fact is, as all parents and grandparents, I'm very proud of the little ones and their achievments. It's not only at home, they were treated to a horseriding session last Friday, because both the girls had done so well with their school work. I'll put this event in another discussion as the day turned out to be quite funny, but it's that kind of support from my Son and Daughter-in-law, and their constant encouragement that has brought the girls up to be what they are. Unfortunately, I don't see the other three too often, but I'm going to have to make a point of taking them out during the Summer break. Brightest Blessings. xx

I cant wait to her about their horse riding session, i am sure it will be great reading. Your grandchildren are very lucky to have such supporting, encouraging parents. I am sure this is what makes kids grow into what they become. Best wishes to you, Darkwing

What a treat, and what a supportive and interested grandma.I can just imagine. I know she gets a great deal of satisfaction from the creative process. That doll is going to have the best wardrobe of any doll around. Maybe you have a budding clothing designer on hand, or perhaps these are props for writing children's stories. It is great that her parents are enchanted by her as well.

The strange thing is, when I was early in my secondary education, I wanted to be a fashion designer. I never got there, but perhaps my genes have taken over my granddaughter's life! ha ha ha Brightest Blessings.

wow...thas great..your grand daughter have some talent.say a hai from me....hope she will do many more creative works in future.and how old she is....really nice work

She's nine, Naadia, going on sixteen, but she's great. She's more like a friend than a grandchild. We can talk about things for ages without there being any grownup - child barrier. All my grandchildren are great kids, but Lauren is the youngest and she amazes me sometimes with her talents... so much so, that I have to share. I'm sorry if that seems boastful, but thank you for your comments and I will certainly say hi to her, from you! :) Brightest Blessings.

Very very talented indeed. Might have a career in fashion designing, interior design, something along those lines with her hands. I loved what she did with tehe left over carpet. She is a genius!

Well, I don't know whether I'd go quite so far as to call her a genious but she certainly has an inventive mind. I did want to be a fashion designer when I was early in my secondary eduction... I never made it, but perhaps she is going to. Brightest Blessings.

Sure your granddaughter has talents. I am sure she really enjoys herself with her new found hobby. I rememebered when I was young, my sibblings and I too do such "experiments" making clothes, rugs etc from leftover cloths which my mother leaves on the floor while she cuts and sews. She is a seamstress.
@Darkwing (21583)

That's right... we did used to make our own amusement and invent or design things, by experiment. However, with the amount of video games and computer entertainment around these days, I think a lot of kids have lost that art. I am so pleased that my grandchildren don't belong to that zombie brigade, and that my boys restrict their computer time. It's all a part of growing up and I'm so happy to see it in my offspring. They should enjoy life in the same way we did. There are too many worries and too much competitiveness to have what the next man hasn't in this day and age. Brightest Blessings, my friend.

Thank you Mummymo, but never forget the talents of your Niamh also. We're all proud of our offspring and their offspring and why not indeed? That's what life is all about, my friend. xxx
