In my school, I hate history most. I think we don't use history knowledge for any purposes. Years, events, people, society, ... Do you agree with me?

I loved history in high school. College was another story entirely though. for me it depends on how the history is taught. It can be really interesting to learn how certain events lead to other ones and how those events might still directly effect our lives today. I do agree about memorization though. Just being forced to memorize dates and people't names is a complete waste of time. Your teacher should be focusing on more of why these people and dates are important. A good teacher came make history class like a really interesting story with complex characters and life changing events. For instance, knowing what life was like can make you appreciate (or not in some cases) what you have now. I also think it might be that you haven't found an area of history that interests you. I loved learning about the Revolutionary and Civil Wars in the US. They really made me open my eyes to how far we've come and in some cases how far we still need to go. I'm really sorry that your history classes are so boring for you. Maybe someday you will get a teacher who really lights that spark for you.

i think that history is the most boring subject. its just too difficult to remember all the dates and facts. i know that it improves our knowledge but its too difficult. everybody knows about the most important events of the history but what is the need of studying each and every event in depth?

Certainly, there must be at least one purpose that history serves. If not, educationist would not have told us to study. History itself include valuable lessons for our comtemporary civilizations. Studying history, people can learn to avoid mistakes made by the ancestors and manipulate their knowledge in modern contexts. History has a vital role in social sciences such as politics, art of military etc. Despite its benefits, students usually have the tendency to dislike history at school in some countries. This practice can be imputed to the method of education applied at the schools: training students to study by rote-learning other than educating them to make analyses . I empathize with you about this point. However, the causes of your detestation are methods of education, not history itself. You should distinguish them clearly and put it down to experience. Who knows, your experiences might serve as a valuable history lesson for next generation. :D. Wish you motivation in studying history.

even i hated history very much... but i don't agree that we dont use history knowledge for any purpose.. u can say this only when you dont have any knowledge of history.. but if u r good in history u can always use this to tell others and increase their knowledge..as it is always better to listen and learn than read and learn...

History helps us to know better what has happened in the past. With the knowledge of history, we can learn lots of things/lessons from the past and improve what we are doing to make it a better society. I find it difficult to understand why you hate it. But I find it very interesting for me to learn more about history, whether it is international or domestic.
