buddhism is essentially the quest for enlightenment. Its purpose is to elimenate suffering and the ignorance that causes suffreing. In order to do that, it is necessary to undrestand the ultimate nature of mind and the world of phenomena and the potential for perfection that is in every being. the buddha taught the 4 noble truths in his first sermon in the deer park near benares.the first is the truth of suffering. not just the suffering that we normally call suffreing, the kind of suffreing

This is very true. We need to get rid of suffering through the ignorance that lives deep in this world. But once YOU see the truth you can do anything in this world.
