Hi Friends, I like sago dishes in any variety. My all time favorite is sago khichdi. It is very yummy and it's a little tricky for those who try for the first time. a good quality sago seed is required to make a perfect sago khichdi. What is your idea on sago dish? How do you prepare sago khichdi? Share your recipes here so that we can try different varieties. So, friends contribute yours.

Hi, Haven't you heard of sago seeds. It looks like small white pearls. the dish is very tasty and very healthy. even a bowl of sago dish would give me enough strength till night. I searched and found and image http://farm1.static.flickr.com/206/511885578_ae7e67b44d_o.jpg You will get an idea. It is used world wide. you can make many dishes. It is best for children because it give lot of strength. my 2+ yr old son loves this.

In my place, some of the local peoples eat sago as their traditional dish. They called it 'ambuyat' and pronounce as um-boo-yut, it is made from the sago flour direct made from the sago tree. I can't eat them as by looking at them, it is really look like a very thick glue and did not have any taste at all. Its taste depend on the side dish which prepared together with it such as spicy clear soup of fish, spicy vegetables etc. But when it comes to the sweet porridge or dessert, then i will love the sago. Normally what I love to eat is the banana and sago ball porridge, yum and sago ball porridge, sago cake. The things which I remember in preparing the banana/yum and sago porridge is that cook the half ripe banana in a water which added with the coconut milk, sugar and the sago ball until the sago ball is about to be looked like a crystal ball. To add a fragrance to the dessert, just add one screw pine leaf and let them cook for a while.
