Tell me about your landlord problems? I haven't had a landlord in 8 years, because I owned my own home. One of my landlords in college used my security deposit for something she wasn't supposed to. and now, we just moved from a temporary rental into our new home that we purchased, and my most recent landlord again has kept the security deposit and is charging us for things we didn't damage! Tell me about your landlord or security deposit nightmares!

Waves to cassidy! Hey there =) I've never had a landlord yet, this is the sort of thing which puts me off from renting a house. I personally would rather save and not go through annoying landlords or make sure I can find one who isn't or doesn't seem bad. Never had anything like this happen :) ~Joey P.s it's nice to see you hehe..

I can't tell you how thrilled I am to be a homeowner again! I can't stand landlords, i swear so many of them are money grubbers. I never should have rented this place that used to be the woman's own home. She was too personally attached. I should have rented through an agency that would have been more thorough, professional and amenable!

It's kinda what I fear, as I know many of friends who have rented had similar issues and I just decided to save most of what I earned to go towards an house. Renting via an agency is a good idea! We've discussed council homes although it takes to long and since + a bit before jake was born we did sign up for that process but now it's over a year and haven't gotten further up the list. lol A couple of close calls but oh well :)

yeah, owning your own place has pluses and minuses, but I think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. I might be responsible for anything that breaks, but I'd rather have to fix an old furnace than deal with a slum lord!!

When i was in college, my landlady let us bank in our rental monthly for her. I remembered my rental wrongly and each month I bank in 10 dollars less, and she didn't realised until i was reminded by my roommate 4 months later. Now, after i started working, i moved to another place. This landlady asked us to bank into her father's account directly, sometimes we were a day or two delay, but they never say anything to us. Regarding the security deposit, we always manage to get them back. So, there is no issue for me so far.

I have a landlady, where I stayed for more than a year now. She is okay, but of course the trouble in a landlord or lady is always with fees and management. Mine is with the way she manages the units we are in. She is too loose with the house rules that sometimes even if we, tenants gets annoyed by some practices of our neighbors, she won't mind as long as tenants get to pay. It's hard having to rent indeed, So I pray in the very near future for me to own my own dwelling house.

Hey Cassidy, I haven't yet "official" rented a house yet, although I did sign a contact for 6 months which after a 2 weeks the landlord decided he'd break. We did receive our money back, but the money which went into going to the property regularly to sort things out has gone to waste. Pretty much a small manor nightmare in which we didn't except, actually caught us off guard but oh well. Our council have told us it's Illegal to break a written contact in the way he did but it's not going to change anything after all. Back to searching =) ~Joey

I had a landlord several years ago who insisted that we pay cash and he showed up on the 1st of every month to pick it up. He wouldn't give us an address to send it to or drop it off or anything. Then in December, he didn't show up to pick up the rent. He called to make sure we had it though. He also didn't show up in January or February. At the end of February we got an eviction notice stating that we hadn't paid our rent for 3 months.

The deposit never comes back in its integrity. The least they do is charge for cleaning even if it looks all good. They send the bill so they don't keep any of the money.
