learning to play again

I use to play the guitar everyday for a few year growing up, but then one day I put my baby down and I never tickled her strings again for a few years... That's a tragedy!! I want to start again, I remember the basics pretty well, cords, strumming, finger picking, I can read tabs etc. I want to take my playing seriously again, and would like to know if there is any website where I can go to take my playing to the next level? Please hepl, my fingers are itching!!

It's difficult to answer your question as everyone has different goals but I'd find pieces slightly above my league to learn. There's plenty of tabs online. Or study a completely new style of music to yourself, open yourself up to something completely new & different :)

hey thanks, to be honest I use to be the ulternative and rock junkie, pumping the amp up to heavy distortion and blowing my parent's windows out. :) I think though that I am a tad calmer. Perhaps I'll dust of my accoustic off and try it out. My fiance really likes Spanish guitar music, and I must admit, it does have a pleasant sound. Know of any spanish pieces I can learn? I also wanted to know if there is any good website that provides intermediate to advanced free lessons that are good. Please let me know?

There's a piece of software you can downloas called TablEdit I think it's free, you can load any tabs into it. It allows you to slow down & loop sections of the tab to work on etc. & there are loads of websites of fellow users so you can exchange & share tabs. http://www.tabledit.com/ i use a program called Guitar Pro, it's not free but a lot better, but with either program you can study what you like when you like. Hope this helps some :)

Hey thanks Jaytech, that link you gave is great. Yeah, I did come across guitar pro too, but didn't buy it yet, as I'm still in the initial stages, I would rather buy a good guitar first. About the tabs, I also know of a good site that has a whole archive of user-submitted guitar tabs. http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/ I found some good results with this one too.

Well, I'm a rookie at this. I just picked up an old guitar I had, and started to learn how to play. I came across this great site that is for beginners but just a little advanced, and I think you can brush up on what you already know by going through it. http://guitar.about.com/library/blguitarlessonarchive.htm It has sure helped me a lot, even though I didn't know zilch about the guitar and now I've learned so much and there are songs that you can also practice with on this site. The best part is no signing up, no paying for anything, just good useful information. I think it's a good site and I'm progressing everyday with my guitar skills too. I even have my own blog where I record my progress everyday, it would be nice if a fellow guitar player like yourself could also check it out. http://guitarlearningonmyown.blogspot.com/ Anyway, hope this site is of help to you. Good luck with your guitar playing.
