Would you let your child bring home a stray animal?

I think most kids try to do this. I know I did and my kids did. One time my youngest daughter brought me a butterfly that had a broken wing. I was to fix it so she could have it for a pet. She told me she and the butterfly loved each other. Well as you know there is no way to fix a butterfly in that shape. A few hours later the butterfly died and we all had to have a funeral for it and I had to make a bed for it to be put in. She cried for hors and still remembers that butterfly even though she is 30yrs old now. Has anything like this ever happened to you?

We live out in the country, so my kids have collected many animals. We have had butterflies, frogs, caterpillars and turtles. I let the kids keep them for a few hours and then I make them let them go. I tell them that the animals are looking for their mom and they would be very sad if they couldn't go to their home. One time we did find a kitten in our garage and kept it. It was the sweetest cat I have ever had.

Nothing like this has ever happened to me. But if I were to meet a stray animal, I think that I would take it to the animal protection center. I think that it is a better place for the staff in the center to take care of the animal and they are professional. We have this kind of thing happen in China. Yesterday afternoon, I watched a report on TV saying that a farmer took home a wounded black bear home and raised it for eight months. As he could not afford the fee for the bear, he finally made a decision that he should send it to the center for the animals. When finally the bear was sent to the truck to carry it to the center, both the farmer's family and the small black bear were unwilling to leave each other and the kids in the family had a good cry. You see, they have now very good relationship towards each other. They are really a very nice family who took care of the poor bear for so long.
