If you think De La Salle University has been invulnerable from controversies after the P.E.P.T. Non-passers Issue that gave them a yearlong suspension in the U.A.A.P., think again. About a year-and-a-half after that illegal acquisition, the Green Archers are back in the sports headlines. The La Sallian community find themselves in the sports section again after not just one, but two news. 1. La Salle Filing a Game Nullification case vs. Ateneo. -Obviously the 83-year rivalry between the Blue Eagles and the Green Archers was brought again outside the court, and not in any place, but in the U.S.T.-headed Management Committee (ManCom) itself. D.L.S.U. filed a protest concerning a situation during their meeting against A.D.M.U. last July 26 in which Norman Black, Ateneo's head coach, allegedly fielded in two foreign players, Zion Laterre of Australia, and Kirk Long of the U.S.A. Paolo Trillo, the team manager of the Eagles, clarified that the courtside announcer, Rolly Manlapaz, a D.J. for RJ FM, mispronounced the name of Jai Reyes that instead of Jai, it ended up being said as "Zai". If somebody uploaded that scene on YouTube, you better watch it, and you be the judge. 2. La Sallite Busted for Game-fixing -While the main campus is waiting for the decision from the U.A.A.P. ManCom, the "Other Green Campus" across Taft Avenue was shocked after one of its students, and one of its varsity players, was arrested by the N.B.I. for game-fixing. Paolo Orbeta, the star player of the D.L.S.U.-College of St. Benilde Blazers was arrested due to the allegations of a certain Benildian that he fixed the game by making the Blazers lose, and he having at least 11 points. As of this moment, the C.S.B. Administration suspended Orbeta indefinitely from playing in the N.C.A.A. Well, it has been La Salle all over the papers this week. Just comment about these issues concerning the Green Archers.
