Sky Problems in Photos

I bought a new camera and am having problems with clouds and the sky being too bright in my pictures. I had filters for my old camera that helped, but haven't been able to purchase any for the new one yet. Are there any tips/tricks to making the sky appear natural without darkening the rest of the picture? Thanks
