What A Great Feeling!

I got my first pay check from my new job on Friday. After being out of regular work for almost a year, you have no idea how marvelous it was to finally be paid for real, steady work. And, I love my new job! It's like it was tailor made for me. It can be a little tiring on the days I'm there all day but one of the things I like best is that I do different things throughout the day. We change jobs/assignments every hour or two which keeps me from getting bored. Since I get bored rather easily if I don't have something to do, I really like having the change of pace of doing different things throughout the day. Also, since I work for a library, I get to check out DVDs and VHS tapes and music CDs for free. It's just a really great position. I understand that not every one would be happy in this type of job but it certainly suits me. I just thought I'd share that.

That sounds great! It's always nice to have a job you can actually say that you enjoy and can look forward to doing every day. What about the people you work with? I have a really neat job also, but sometimes I dread going just because of who I have to work with. At a library, you are probably more on your own, aren't you?

Actually, my job is very much a team effort. We all have our responsibilities but we all do the various duties at different times of the day. However, there are always at least two or three of us on the front desk and we have to step up to the plate or someone gets overloaded. When we have a lot of patrons at one time, it can be somewhat overwhelming, especially if we have to deal with someone who is in a bad mood or something. It definitely keeps things interesting.

I'm so happy to hear you're happy with your job whimsy and that it seems to be tailor made for you...and it really must feel good to get that paycheck since you were out of work for so long--just a question..how have you worked things out with your landlord...just wondering--is she understanding...you're still in my prayers about this

Thanks, pyewacket! Regarding my landlord, I'm still believing she will work with me. Initially, she has turned down my offer but I have learned from experience with God that I shouldn't take no for an answer and to keep believing. I'm claiming favor with her and I believe God will move in her heart and get her to change her mind. I'm also still believing to get enough money in here to pay her in full. I'm not sure what God is going to do but all things are possible with God and for those who believe. He has it all in control and I'm expecting miracles.

Primarily, I work the circulation desk but I also work in the inter-library exchange area checking books in and out to other libraries in the area. And, I take care of books put on hold by patrons. There are a number of different jobs that we all do. It is really a team type situation and everyone works all of the jobs at different times. One of the things I love is that I'm getting experience in all sorts of areas which will give me experience I can take when and if I decide to leave there to find another job. Of course, since I'm working on starting my own publishing and merchandising company, I don't plan on going to work for anyone else again but if it's necessary, I'll have new experiences to take to a new position. I can also move up within the ranks at the library where I work now.
