What do you do when you like socialising and would want to have a few friends over for a nice little chat followed by some dinner, the informal way and your husband would rather be at home and do his own thing and spend the evening with the family? When I mean socialising, I don't mean partying or anything too boisterous but perhaps chit-chat sessions with close friends. I love sitting around with people and chatting but my husband would rather spend the evenings at home with us.

Well, I think you can maybe work in a compromise, like just invite your friends over for a nice tea & chat instead of dinner, and tell your husband you'll be in a room somewhere like the living room, where you can close the door, so he can have a bit of peace. Or alternate, like some weeks you can do the dinner, and other evenings he can spend with just the family. I'm sure he should understand! Maybe he'll come out of his shell a bit and start enjoying the dinner chats :).
