Say what you will about McDonalds, one thing that is generally in their favor is that they are consistent from one location to another and usually (in my experience) fairly clean. So, when I am travelling, I am more likely to choose McDonalds as a stopping location when I need to use the restroom, because it's generally pretty okay.
BUT NOT YESTERDAY!!
My mother and son and I had driven to visit my sister over the weekend and we stopped on Sunday afternoon at a McDonalds right next to the interstate. The bathroom was dirty and with only one of the two stalls operational. We stood in line to get a snack and the line was slow. We noticed a health department rating on the wall of 83, and should have left right then, but didn't. Instead my mom and I started observing all of the very obvious reasons why the 83 rating was deserved and perhaps even generous.
A manager or shift leader heard us say something about the french fries that were spilled all over the floor and said in a hostile tone, "Excuse me, did you say something about french fries?" My mother said, "Yeah, we're still waiting for our fries." I couldn't believe that this supervisory employee was actually acting like she wanted to fight with us!!!!
They didn't have the apple slices for my son's happy meal and tried first to not give him a juice box at all and then gave us a hot one. When I said I didn't want a hot one, the cashier was insolent with me.
I just couldn't get out of there fast enough. And this morning I sent a customer service complaint on the McDonalds website that had to go in three transmissions because the text space they give was insufficient to detail all of my issues with this visit.
I said at the end of all of this to them that even with the obvious deficiencies, my experience wouldn't have turned me off to this extent if the employees had at least been friendly, and perhaps apologetic about the waits etc. I really do feel that way about service. There will always be problems and issues, but with the right attitude from the employee, some of it can be overcome. I am still rather shell shocked that these employees were so insolent and uncaring.
What do you guys think about customer service, at McDonalds or anywhere else? What kind of bad experiences have you had? Please share your thoughts.

I think it is the same anywhere.... maybe 20 years ago when there were very few mcdonalds outlets in the world... customer service was very good, maybe because they would really take time to choose the crew and train them and really get to take care of their restaurants. But now that there are mcdonald outlets everywhere... their service became very bad....
