No, I wouldn't take the job.
I sat here thinking about how to design it, being just as creative as I could be. I considered keeping the traditional flames and unbearable heat, adding a little twist...they would be able to see cool, refreshing streams, rivers, lakes and waterfalls all around them but they would never be able reach them. I also thought that each one would forever be able to smell their favorite food cooking but could never taste it. Perhaps they would never be able to speak to each other, they could see each other but would never be able to interact. I would have also included the expected torture, doing the same to them that they did to their victims tenfold. I would also want them to see and feel the agony that they caused their own family members AND the families affected by their actions.....
But it was at about that point in my thoughts that I realized if I were to take that job then I would be worse than all of those lost souls combined. All the pain and suffering they endured would be partly on MY conscience because I was the one that designed it o be that way. Sure, it was also partly their fault for being there in the first part but the eternal suffering would be on me...so that's my answer, I couldn't take the job.

I don't actually believe in a hell, but your topic got me thinking. =p
If I were to design a hell, each person would experience every single unkind thing they had done to someone else. Both the big and the small things, so that they could see the impact that every action has on someone else.
Of course my hell wouldn't be eternal, because I believe the spirit can always learn, and once each person had learned the impact of their actions they would move on to somewhere better. This of course makes mine definitely not the worst that you will get in responses, and so puts me out of the running for best response, but I'm just too nice and have too much faith in the ability of all beings to learn and grow.
