What's your favorite? Mine has always been Charlotte's Webb by E.B. White - we read it in school and I instantly fell in love with it.

When I was a kid, my favorite was Blue Bug's Vegetable Garden. I still love it. I was given a copy of that and 2 other Blue Bug books a few years ago. While I was pregnant. I also loved Where the Wild Things Are & Green Eggs and Ham. When I got older, I loved the Little House books, along with Amelia Bedelia and Ever Ready Eddie. There are a couple I've read since my son was born that I really liked. I'd never read The Giving Tree before, and I fell in love with it. Also Mr. Peabody's Apples (it's actually one of Madonna's children's books).

Indeed! I was always such a big fan. Once I even checked some Amelia Bedelia out from the library just for me to read (as an adult).

I don't think that I could pick just one favorite childrens book as my favorite. That would be because I LOVE children's books, even now as an adult. I collect them too. My favorite subject of children's books though is HORSES! I loved horses as a kid and I still do as an adult. I read every kids book that I could get my hands on as a kid and I still read and re-read my favorite ones even as an adult. Some of my favorites are Grand Rogue by Frances Priddy, White Ghost Summer and Sand Ponies both by Shirley Rousseau Murphy, Afraid to Ride and Outlaw by C. W. Anderson [really I love ANYTHING at all by C.W. Anderson], Misty of Chincoteague and King of the Wind by Marguerite Henry [again, I like most of her books]. Those are just a few of my favorites. If I listed every horse book that I liked, this post would turn into 100 posts!!

Well, actually I meant that I read every horse book that I could get my hands on but its a true enough statement that I read every kids book that I could get my hands on too, as a kid. I also loved Trolley Car Family by Eleanor Clymer. I really loved the mystery series books too like Trixie Belden, Nancy Drew, Three Investigators, Bobbsey Twins, Hardy Boys, all those great old series. I read all dog and other animal books that I could find. I spent A LOT of time in the library as a kid checking out as many books as they would let me. Plus, in the summer, my mother would drop me off at the library in the morning and get me in the afternoon. I spent the day finding books to check out and then I would sit in their chairs and just read all day. It was great!

Nice response, I still read a lot of children's books as well. My mom's friend use to run a day care and when I'd clean the place up after the kids went home - I had a tendency of sitting there reading the books she had there for the kids, including the little 5 page ones for 3 to 5 year olds.

Oh that was always my favorite book as a child. When I was six, my mom came into my room at 2am and found me in my closet, with a flashlight, reading Charlotte's Web for the third time. It is just such an excellent book.

How funny - I was pretty much the same way with it but I let it be known, I'd keep the bedroom light on. lol
