Students Sick From Heat

I saw on the news that in Kentucky this morning 8 students who had lined up to get free school supplies became sick and had to be transported to the hospital due to the heat. I think that this is just one more incident involving poor judgment on behalf of whoever set this up. The passing out of these school supplies could have waited for a few days until the weather situation improved.

You're so right...the passing out of free school supplies could have waited until the heat went down a bit--people don't realize that extreme heat conditions can affect children also, I just hope none had heat stroke..did they??

So far I have not heard any follow-up on it, pyewacket. I will be checking on updates though.

Yes, Aurone, I feel it was cruel that they should have to stand out in the heat in the first place.

i don't think anyone does any thinking nowadays , they want to get a job done , in and out so to speak and get it over with , nothing seems to be made to last either , as I get older I se so much shoddy work done and this really upsets me , xx

That is pathetic and shows very poor judgement of someone's part. I live in Kentucky, and that story likely arises from somewhere here in the eastern half of the state. Most schools give out free supplies near the first week of school. I cannot belive that the kids weren't taken indoors to wait. Of course, many of the school's gyms (only area large enough to do the handouts without having a line outdoors) aren't air conditioned.

Why wasn't this done in an air conditioned building?
