My belly was huge!

When I was pregnant, I went around oblivious to my huge pregnant belly. My full length mirror had shattered during our move, and so most days I would get dressed the best I could and just go about my day assuming I look alright. It helped that I wasn't working outside the home at the time, or I'm sure I would have gotten some comments! Actually, thinking about it now, I did get some very shocked reactions when I was about eight months pregnant and went sacheting into a second hand shop, just me and my big belly. Literally, mouths dropped open as I waddled by, unborn baby in tow. And, then one day during a very short vacation, while we were staying at a hotel, I caught a glimpse of my very big belly and almost had a heart attack! It was huge. And, then that's when the pieces started falling into place; the explanation for the back pain, the impolite stares and whispers as I walked by. But, it was OK with me, that big belly was proof of my baby! Proof of life. I didn't care what anyone thought. Did that happen to you? Did you have such a huge belly during pregnancy that others pointed and gawked as you walked by? Did you really care?

Wow! You poor thing! You must .have really had your hands full. I almost did the same thing. The minute I got home from the hospital with our newborn daughter, I wanted to have another baby right away. I think it was just hormones, though. The hubby squashed that idea quickly! And, now almost four years later, I'm kind of glad (and sort of sad) that we didn't go ahead and have another kid right away. As is, I don't think we'll ever have more children. Once I was into the pregnancy mode, I could have stayed pregnant for years. Well, all except that last month or two when I was in pain all the time. And, I could barely walk.

I didn't gain much weight at all while I was pregnant, because I was sick all the time. I was also overweight to start with, so if I was wearing a baggy shirt, you couldn't tell I was pregnant until I was about 34 weeks along. The baby was kicking like crazy before it was obvious I was pregnant. I remember one time when I was cutting this guy's hair, and I leaned forward a little bit to cut his bangs, and my son kicked him in the head. The guy stiffened up, because he didn't know what was going on. I appologized and told him it was my baby, and then he looked at me and laughed. He said he didn't even notice I was pregnant until I said something about it.

Oh, that's too funny! I'll bet the baby kick must have given him pause for thought. He must have thought you thumped him on the ear or something. Too cute! When mine was in my belly, she was so stubborn. And, when I was lying in bed and went to turn over onto my side, she wouldn't budge. She would just stay in the same spot. So, as I turned, you could literally see this huge baby body form pressing out against the surface of my skin. Then my belly would look all mishapen until she settled back into her spot. I've never seen anything like that before.

Wow, i've never seen anyone give impolite stares when someone had a huge pregnant belly. I mean...there's a reason for it..it's not like you are just fat or anything. Did you not notice that your were slowly unable to see your feet anymore?? lol You can't possibly have not had any idea how big you had gotten. What about bathroom mirrors?

I was like someone else on here, they kept telling me i was going to pop any time from about 5 or 6 months, then as it got closer to the date, everyone kept telling me to take a long walk etc to get the baby out, she was a little late but still, many people commented on how big i was & asked if i was sure there weren't twins or triplets in there! We took a photo just a week before our daughter was born & that kinda hit home, how big i really was. We only had the bathroom mirror so it was too high to see my belly in properly anyway! Everyone used to look at me funny when i was out & i went from a size 10 - 12 to a 16 so i kinda knew my belly must have been big coz even a size 16 jumper wasn't long enough to keep my belly warm :) It didn't bother me too much though, i just figured it wasn't them pregnant, it was me, & they could keep their comments to themselves!

I too had a very huge belly. Ofcourse i do remember getting looks from people. But that didn't bother me at all. I used to think "common man Spare me please, I am pregnant." I do remember trying my best to avoid going outside after the eighth month unless really important. My worst problem was not the belly but the pigmentation marks on my neck.

I am facinated by pregnant bellies for the fact there is a baby growing in there.... My first it took me ages to get used to the bump, I would try to squeeze through spaces in which I usually could but not with the bump. people would stare alot and mostly I thought because I was young. I never really realised how big it was until I saw pics, and I never had a full length mirror...

LOL I know how you felt. With my daughter(2nd child) I got HUGE and I didn't realize how big I was until I saw pictures LOL I never cared what anyone thought because there was a beautiful litte life growing in there and when I am pregnant its the only time I don't have to care about how my tummy looks I will wear tight tops and such. I had people look and stare but you could tell I was preggers I didn't look just fat. If I had a pic on my com I would post it LOL I loved being preggers with both my kids and one day I would love to have more.

Wearing a tent - Being big in pregnancy makes you look like you are wearing a tent
My second pregnancy, I was HUGE!!! I did not see my feet for many months and standing at the sink trying to do the dishes was hysterical, I was about a foot away. In the end I had to safety pin my skirt under my belly to my knickers so it looked like I did have legs, otherwise the skirt would hang so far out I looked like a barrel. My son was 8.3lbs and very very long, that was one tiring pregnancy and I did care in a way about how I looked as it was summer when I was at my biggest, so I could not hide behind a massive coat. My clothes were so big, it looked like I was wearing a tent. I am sure if the wind had caught them I would have taken off!!

Oh yes, I had many awkward glances and stares. I was literally huge by the time I was 5-6 months pregnant, during both of my preganancies. My first son weighed over 9 pounds, and my second was over 8 pounds, so you can literally imagine how huge I got. I also have an outy belly button, so it stuck out profuselly. I remember everywhere I went, people would come up just to rub my damn belly button! It got quite annoying, and by my second pregnancy, I was just like "leave my belly alone!" But, yes, I got huge, and good for you that it didn't bring you down. During my first pregnancy, I just HATED being so fat, and would resist going anywhere if I thought a skinny girl would be parading around to make me feel even more fat. But, during my second pregnancy, I embrased it. I felt sooo beautiful. I had such cute (and exspensive) maternity clothes, and my husband would buy me beautiful jewelery (I think to help me feel beautiful). But, don't think you were the only huge one, just think of me carrying around a 9 pound baby, and being so petite, it REALLY showed.

I had a big belly, and didn't know it until the day I gave birth! I tend to wear large shirts anyway, so it was pretty well covered my whole pregnancy and we didn't have a full-length mirror. My mom kept pressuring me to take at least 1 picture of myself pregnant so I would have it to remember the experience by (like I would forget the experience????). Before we left for the hospital (scheduled c-section), I posed for 1 picture, standing sideways with my shirt pulled up over my belly so it would show. It was HUGE! I didn't know! I didn't care, either, lol.
