how do u paste a link in such a way that....your reference is not shown?

i have seen many people giving links..but again they try to paste links in a way that reference part is invisible..but u can see that at the bottom of the page...any ideas ?

Not sure if i'm understanding this the right way, but i know on AIM (aol instant messenger) you can type a link then choose what you want the words to say.... where are you trying to put the link?
