Will the fat come back after liposuction?

I was just wondering about liposuction. I have a very large stomach which I haven't been able to lose since I had my son. If I wore men's pants, I would have to get a waist size of around 50. It seems impossible to lose. Has anyone had liposuction? Does the fat come back?

I have not had liposuction; however, I had a consultation yesterday and asked that exact question actually. My doctor said that you will not gain weight back in those spots because the fat cells are removed, BUT the ones that are there can get larger or your fat will store elsewhere in your body, like, for example, your underarms.

Thank you so much for the info. By the way, how much does this surgery cost?

It's variable really depending where you live and what areas you want to get done. I don't live in a big city or anywhere near CA or NY (I'm sure the prices skyrocket there). My procedure will cost around $7500 and that would include my abdomen and what my doctor calls a "G" procedure. The "G" procedure is the area starting on your lower back right above your buttocks, around your saddle bag area (outer thighs), and right under the area of your buttocks. All of my follow-up visits are included in the cost, along with medications, sedation, everything. Some places do it all seperately, though.

I heard The body produces fat cells when you are young and this production stops at puberty. When you gain or lose weight the cells get bigger or smaller; the number of cells does not change. Liposuction permanently removes fat cells. They do not come back and new fat cells are not produced. You can, however, gain weight in the remaining fat cells. But you will gain it proportionately over your entire body; it will not be disproportionately added to your "problem" area anymore.
