It is well known that Billy Graham is and was a major influence in America. Many Americans see him is our national spiritual adviser. Over the past 50 years or so, he has been a major influence in the White House, spending time with and advising presidents since JFK. There are grumblings lately that Mr. Graham never really gave those men the "plain truth", but simply told each president what they wanted to hear to make them feel better about themselves. Some say he simply made sure he stayed on each leader's good side in order to solidify his standing as the White House's "go to" spiritual guy and keep his position of power withing the government. So, what do you think? Billy Graham, decent Christian evangalist trying to be a proper moral compass for our leadership, or Billy Graham, presidential puppet?

surely he has a strong enough personality not to be pushed around by the powers that be. from what i know and understand, presidents have actually asked him for his advice on certain matters...

That's what I tend to think, too. I've always had a lot of respect for him. He always seemed genuine to me. We live in a cynical world where everyone questions everyone's motives. Sometimes that's good, sometimes that's bad.
