I don't I know I should but I don't I know what everyone is going to say they saves lifes, I know they do. but I can't stand being tied down like that. I notice that a lot of people don't wear them, I was coming off the freeway ony day, I was waiting for the light to change. and I was so surprised how a lot of people didn't have on their Safety belts. I know you can get fined for it. if I happen to see a police close by then I will put it on. How about you? do you wear them or not! Ok, I will chat later.

I do wear mine but dont like it, mt daughter some years ago got into an accident and the car flipped she didnt have one on so she slid over to the passenger side ,well the poice officer told her if she had it on and not been slid ove she would have been killed. also had a friend who had hers on and got into an accident and got her liver cut in half from the seatbelt. so sometimes i wonder but i do wear it.

Yes I do wear the belt from the safety point of view. Otherwise the traffic police will charge $20 to $25

YES! Whenever I am in the car I wear that seat belt because in the State of California, if you do not wear a seat belt, the cops will gladly give you a ticket. I cannot afford a ticket, so I wear that seat belt.

I am really surprised to hear that intelligent well informed people do not wear seatbelts. I remember when the law came in the province where I live a lot of older people refused to wear them. In the meantime this law is strictly enforced and the fines are very heavy for not wearing them. I notice that it is now an automatic step to buckle up and to make sure every one else in the car is also buckled up. All my family and friends would refuse to have anyone in the car who was not buckled in. Seatbelts have saved thousands of lives and saved people from very serious injuries. If you love your life and those who are with you wear your belt and refuse to transport anyone who does not. Please.

I am a bit of a scardy cat and will put mine on, but whey I was pregnant I realy did not wear mine that often. I know that my mom just despises them and will not wear them unless she sees a cop too. I think that it should be your decision to wear the seatbelt and not forced on you by a law.

I would wear them if I'm sitting next to the driver. Otherwise I prefer not to have seat belts.

I insist on wearing a seatbelt. I prefer a shoulder belt but in a pinch a lap belp will do. If I don't have a seatbelt, I won't ride in that particular vehicle. I have avoided rides when seatbelts were not available. I insist on a seatbelt!

Good for you. I am the same, in fact I don't know anybody anymore who would drive without seatbelts on. It is automatic as soon as you get into a car, whether driver or passenger.

We don't really have a choice in the UK. You get slapped with a £50.00 fine if you are caught not wearing you seat belt. You are also supposed to wear them in the back seat. I never do, I just hold it so that it looks like I am wearing it. I'd like to be able to get out in a hurry if I need to.

I always wear my seat belt. When I was growing up it wasn't "required by law" to wear a seat belt though my dad (a police officer then) made my sister and I wear our seat belts whenever he drove us anywhere. My mom was more lenient and didn't force us kids to wear one, heck she didn't even wear one herself. One day my mom, sister, grandmother, and myself got in the car to go somewhere. I was about 8 years old and my sister was about 10. My sister and I took turns riding in the front seat and it happened to be my turn that day. However, since my grandmother was with us she wanted to sit in the front seat. I must of made a complaint or something because my grandmother let me sit on her lap in the front seat. :P Well, with both of us being there we couldn't fit the seat belt around us, so we kept it off. We were at a stoplight when my mom thought the light turned green and bumped into the car in front of her. I ended up hitting my head on either the dashboard or the windshield (I say I hit the windshield, but my grandmother claimed she did). Anyway, had we been wearing our seat belts like we should have been that day, neither of us would have hit our head on anything. My mom was like you until not too long ago...even after it became law she would only put the seat belt on if she saw a cop. Eventually she started wearing one, but would put the shoulder strap under her arm (like that would do any good). She wears a seat belt correctly now. Thank goodness! You really should wear your seat belt. After all, you would want to fly out the windshield, would you? And even if you didn't fly out the windshield you'd still be flung around like a rag doll if you were involved in an accident... Stay safe and buckle up! :)

If I sit besides the driver, then most of the time I will wear the seat belt. Even if I forget to wear it, the driver will remind me. Otherwise the driver will be punished if the police sees it.

For sure I get them fixed before I drive. Regardless of the law is concern. But I fixed it because of the safety measure. Anybody who don't experienced with an accident for sure they will ignore it until it come true to their life then they will try to look for advantages of that stupid belt.

I usually don't even though I should. But about 3 weeks ago I got a new car and when I don't have it on there is this annoying dinging sound that won't go away. So now I put it on just to make the noise shut up. What a way to get someone to put on their seat belt huh!

Yeah I do have to put in on to make the noise stop. It is the only way the noise will stop. So lately I have been wearing it. which I guess in a way it is good.

I do not drive. But as a passenger I feel safer when I have them on. Though there are times when I don't feel like putting it on. Sometimes, if the driver does not put them on I wont. I am afraid of the idea of being in an accident and them locking up and me not being able to escape when I need to.

Hi marciascott. I always wear my safety belt and when I drive I don't start the car until all people in it have their safety belts on. I have an uncle though who has the same problem: he can't stand wearing a safety belt. So what he does, he straps it around one arm but he does not close it. So if he sees the police he just closes it fast... I do think that it saves lives. Have a nice day marciascott!

I wear my safety belt more than not. It is just habit to put it on before I start the car. On occassion when I am making a lot of short stops I may leave it off, but that isn't too often that I do that.

I always wear my seat belt. I got into the habit when seat belts first came out, so I just automatically put them on. I feel uncomfortable if I travel even just a few blocks without them. Maybe I'm mostly afraid of getting caught and being fined for not wearing it. But I think it is a good habit to have.
