What went wrong with "Boom Boom Bautista" ?

I felt sad for Boom Boom with his recent setback in the just concluded World Boxing Cup held in USA where the other Filipino boxers won their respective categories. There are two reasons: 1. Boom Boom was the only Filipino boxer who lost and it was unfortunate that too much was expected of him considering that his fight was the main event; and, 2. Boom Boom failed to at least give a good fight. He was not able to deliver and was knocked down in the first round. So sad. I'm not disapppointed with him since he still have lots of opportunities to show and tell the world that he is a great boxer. My observation is that he became too confident, he was very open and willing to take a box from his opponent and that he failed to carefully study the fighting technique of his great opponent. I hope the defeat will be a humbling experience for Boom Boom and for him to take it gracefully and to learn from it. Now what do you think? Do we share the same insight?

boom boom is a great boxer, the problem in his last fight was he never used their fighting plan as fred roach teach in him. he is very confident, and a no scared in his mind when he is fighting with Ponce. he never used to run when he got hit by Ponce but he stand quickly and allowing ponce to punch him again. no head movements, no body movements.. its a big experience for boom boom, i hope he learned a lot!

Yes I noticed that too. It was the observation of most boxing analyst too. He does not take his fall as an opportunity to rest, unlike most boxers do. He still has a lot of things to learn in boxing. Another thing, in his interviews he sounds arrogant. Just my personal observation. I don't know if it is because of his youthfulness or it is his way of coping up with the situation. I want to see a rematch and see Boom Boom improve. I'm hoping he can reach the level of pacquiao.

We share the same sentiment. In fact, he is the best boxer among the six of them. But to be a better boxer, if not one of best, one should really experience defeat. And he was fortunate to experience one in his young career, not from a nobody but from a somebody. Even Manny Pacquiao experienced defeats in his younger boxing years that made him a tougher, an uncompromising and an unyielding boxer that he is today. Definitely, "Boom Boom" will be back as a better fighter.

I agree. He was fortunate that he experienced his first defeat and knocked down from a great boxer. I want to see a rematch soon, but I want to see a better Boom Boom. Of all the matches, I enjoyed the fight between gores and ortiz. The fight of peƱalosa didn't leave much impact on me until the 7th round where he knocked down his opponent with a solid punch. Sorry i can't recall the name..hehehehe. Banal is also a great boxer. We have so much talent. Congatulations to us.

very nice feeback, it was very well said. Though I was not able to watch the fight cloely, I still believe that it was not the end. One have to experience the hardest throw in life to bring one to his senses. May it serve as a positive drive to aim for the best one has to offer. Indeed it will be a learning experience for one to get to the top of his hearts desire. Keep going Boom Boom, others surely learn from you. God Bless.
