Have you ever cried yourself to sleep?

Have you ever heard that old saying about being so sad that you cried yourself to sleep? I've heard it! And, I just don't think it's possible. Sure, I've gone to bed crying over some trivial thing and it felt like a really big deal. But, I don't think that I have cried myself to sleep over it. After an hour or two of sobbing into my pillow, I think I would just stop and get up. Nothing about crying makes me feel like going to sleep. I guess you could say that I would be too upset to sleep. Usually when I go to bed upset or crying, I have time to think about whatever it is that's bothering me and then come to some type of resolution. Of course I haven't had my heart broken lately, so I suppose it's possible I would go to bed crying every night if that happen. And I can imagine that I would truly cry myself to sleep then. Have you ever cried yourself to sleep? Did it happen over some type of heartbreak?

i agree with you on my opinion.i haven't cried myself to sleep, if it removes that i cried long time and tried enough to sleep when i was a child. when we began an adult many things upset us will disturb us or even make us sober than ever. we can not sleep most time when something happens, maybe it means things have been done when we can sleep. maybe it just proves that i haven't faced the very things make me cried to sleep.

Yes, I have cried myself to sleep several times, over getting my heart broken and after arguments that have gotten out of hand. Usually I cry myself to sleep or cry until i can't cry no more LOL

No- never- Sure I’m upset from time to time- but like you I don’t feel tired when I cry- I get headaches and runny noses- I try to resolve things that make me upset- if someone passed away- I try to remember the good times- I’ve never cried myself to sleep.

It happened to me whenever i have problems with regards to lovelife. Im weak when it comes to heartbreaks. I cried so hard that i got tired and fell asleep my sister told me that i still continue crying while sleeping. When i woke up my eyes were swollen. Its really normal for some people to experience that too.

Hi beautyqueen26! I did some crying too and really cried myself to sleep. Those times I feel like I have my breaking point and I also feel that I would be able to think things over but maybe the crying has drained me because I and fallen asleep. I guess it is better for me that way because my heart and mind have gotten some rest from all the pain that time. I hope if you are feeling this way, you will soon be over it. Have a nice day and take care!

I have cried myself to sleep many times. I get really tired when crying and sometimes when i am really sad i will just fall asleep while crying. I am heartbroken at the moment so it was not very long ago since i last did it.

I have been so upset and hurt that i have cried myself to sleep. Not over anything trivial. Over something major and usually it will suck the life out of me making me so tired i fall alseep.

if I cry then my eyes will feel so heavy I actually go to sleep faster. but I can only cry if I'm awake. yes it happened over betrayals, friends or loved ones did to me. usually after crying then I become vengeful and will intentionally get even I don't care how. I guess I am both a sheep and a lion. If I don't cry usually I just laugh it off, but if I cry so much I go to sleep, the next day I'll be planning my revenge and make them cry. it's weird I know, but I think it's fair.

Now that you mention it, I'm not exactly sure if I actually have cried myself to sleep, but I have gone to bed crying. I have cried so much some nights that I wear myself out and don't have any energy left. I usually just decide to work out my problems the next day so I can get some rest.

i do that often, i dont want others to see the weak person that i am, i try to look strong and funny, during in bed, when the lights are off thats the time i can cry myself out, for the relationships i have ruined, for friends i have lost, for my frustrations, for my loss, for feeling depressed, it does relieve my aching soul once in a while, and when my tears have dried up, i can wear the happy face again

Yes...I've cried myself to sleep many times. And you are right...it was a heart break. You said that you haven't had a heartbreak, so you'll not understand the pain. I hope you never face such days. it is really painful.

I did when I was little when my mum sent me to bed and I got so upset I exhausted myself...you know the type when your breathing becomes irratic and everything you say is a stutter!!LOL Now I am older, I have gone to bed upset, but usually the crying stops before I fall asleep. What I hate though is waking up and after that split second of thinking everything is wonderful, I remember why I was crying, that is not nice.

Yes, I have before. Probably twice when I was a teenager. I am bipolar, but no one knew that when I was a teenager. So I wasn't getting help. I didn't know why I was so sad and despondent. I thought it was normal teenage emotions. And that depression prompted me to cry myself to sleep a couple times. Usually, I'd wake up a couple hours afterward because my nose was stopped up from crying.
