Have you heard of Milk Banks - where you can donate your milk to those who can't produce it - or enough of it - themselves for a variety of reasons? You can help pre-emie babies, adoped babies (did you know it is actually possible to produce milk if you adopt a baby?) and sick babies. People are also selling their milk through such venues as craigslist. Making good money too. Apparantly, its legal -if you're considering it - I would advise you to think twice - it may be legal to sell it - for now - but we're a sue-happy nation - if the child gets sick for any reason, parents may be quick to blame you - get some kind of legal papers signed beforehand! Its not just moms either - men are putting ads up - wanting their own wet nurse - sometimes they just want it - for their rice crispies I guess - sometimes they want to watch it being pumped. I would consider donating my milk for a sick baby but not a sick puppy. What about you - would you donate or sell your milk - its done by the ounce and some are making upwards of $100 a day.

I think it is a good idea especially from the reports this morning that cows milk could be the cause of a few things, I understand what you are saying about the sue thing, I certainly hope the donors are being screened and tested as a lot of things can go through the milk.

I think the donors to the milk banks are being tested - not sure about the individuals selling their milk - guess it would be case by case. The great think about milk is that - as long as you're pre-screened and healthy - the things getting thru milk are great things like anti-bodies and vitamins and proteins which are easily broken down by the baby....

Also, I didn't catch the news today - what are they saying cows milk is causing? I guess its a good time to invest in soy and rice milk stock!

They were talking about various things mainly to do with few deaths here in Australia with flu, they are saying cows milk has molicules or something that could be causing quite a few things in children to do with the pancreos also I think they were saying something my mother used to always say, that a lot of kids today get sick because they are too clean, my Mum used to say we kids were healthy because we played in the gutters and played with dirt...the doctor on the TV said exactly the same thing, kids are not building up immune systems..interesting...

Great topic. Just perfect timing. I mean, I am considering donating my extra milk. I asked a friend who works in the hospital if there's such a thing as milk bank. She hasn't responded yet, I hope you can help me out on this. Where are you from by the way? I'm from the Philippines. And yes, I hope they would screen me out first or the milk or whatever procedures they need to do. I want to give the best for my child and for other babies, too. I drink Anmum Lacta twice a day and Natalac.

Sound like health is important to you - I'm in the states. Look it up online - I know there are plenty of milk banks here not sure about the Philipines. Don't quote me on this but a friend told me that their are actually still wetnurses in Europe.
