My Son Wakes Up in the Middle Of the Night

My son is 3 1/2 and wakes up in the middle of the night, every night around 1-2 am. He has done this since around 1 year. He wakes up crying a little and dosent quit for 30 min to an Hour. I dont know why He does this. Its not like hes having a nightmare. I try to console him but he just cries. Usually I have to put him in bed with me to get him to calm down. Hes not sick or anything like that. He dosent act like hes in pain, just cries. Does any one know what might be going on? I just dont get it. I love him and I just cant keep doing this every night. Please Help!!

A lot of children his age wake up and have seperation anxiety, He needs to be reassured that your not going to leave him and that your there for him. Many children this age go through it some are more sensative than others. They do outgrow it by age four or four and half.

my youngest daughter has just turned 4 and she wakes up every night too. She sometimes cries but I cant get her back to her own bed. I have tried everything I can think of from hot milk to playing with her until she is too tired to walk. Nothing works. I think it is something that I will just have to let her grow out of. I also have a 16 year old daughter and getting her out of bed is hard work. So maybe we just have to wait a few years for our little ones to change.
