india-us nuclear deal.... what is it all about somebody explain

hi,
I want to know the important points of this nuclear deal. The only thing i know is that, US said it will cancel the deal if India tests its atomic weapons. But how does India get benefit by signing this deal? And what impact does it have on the prime minister if the deal is being cancelled?
