When preparing to travel and booking your stay, how do you do it? Do you book online, use a specific website to get cash back or savings? Do you use a frequent flier mile credit card and rack up the points for travel? Do you use a travel agent for you traveling needs? Personally I book online through My Power Mall so that I can get discounts and cash back and then I use my Visa debit card when paying for them so that I get points as well.

I'm a number cruncher, so I look at all alternatives before I book a major trip. I contact travel agencies, though usually they can't offer as good of deals as online sites can. I then use a few search engines that check all travel sites on the net, then I check the airlines I have frequent flyer programs at, etc. Ultimately, I go with whatever is going to give me the best deal for my money. However, if I'm travelling on a whim (like I often to for business), I typically just use my frequent flyer program.

Hello lazywalt99, Being a number cruncher is fine however never sacrifice price over quality. Just remember you get what you pay for. If you have any trip that is important for you to take (which as long as it is not biz travel any trip is important). Then make sure you have a travel advocate on your side in case something goes wrong. That is what a travel agents true job is. Also most tour operators/cruise lines offer pretty much the same pricing structure and the agents dont usually charge fees for booking vacation packages because the suppliers pay the agents commission (matter of fact this is how the internet sites make their money as well only it is you that does all the work). But if anything goes wrong on your trip flight gets cancelled, hotel gives you the wrong room type, the shuttle service that was supposed to take you to the hotel fails to do so...it is the trusty travel agent that you call to FIX this and usually when they do you get a special bonus for your trouble because they have forged relationships with the tour operator or cruise line. Try calling a compassionate human from the internet site... Just rememeber sometimes it is better to pay alittle more for quality..

I would search online here to see which travel agent has a cheaper price. We have too many travel agents here and the prices could be really competitive. Then I would call to make sure the prices are right and then I would book through them. They charge a 2.5% fee if you use a credit card. Therefore I would have to pay in cash.

When i travel i usually use an online travel agency , yourwayoftravel.com , because it has great deals on vacation packages , cruises , and more. I always check their prices and compare them to other sites like travelocity..
