Why is it so hard for employee's to go the extra my to make a customer happy? What does customer service mean to you? If you deal with customers, do you go the extra mile to make them happy? If you are a customer, how do you feel when an employee goes the extra mile for you?

My first jobs were working in restaurants, and I learned then two things. First, the customer is always right. Even when they are wrong. Two - there is a sense of satisfaction in making a customer happy. As a customer, I want to be treated helpfully and with respect. I do not want to be hounded to make up my mind. I do not want to be treated like a nobody. If they want my business, they will make me happy. And businesses who have employees that are not strong on customer service should get rid of those employees or risk losing customers.

When an employee will go that extra mile for me it tells me three things. 1): I can trust them and will indeed get the service promised. 2): The work ethic they display tells me I am in good hands. 3): There is no doubt in my mind that this employee will do well no matter what they do. If you find an employee that is not helpful, not doing their job, it is a clear sign they need help. Some people have never had an example to work from. Someone they can respect that will give them that work ethic. Until they change they will always be right were they are or with out a job.
