I Am Sick And Tired of Rude Thoughtless Pet Owners

I am just fed up with pet owners who are not responsible for their pets mainly dogs! I live in an area where there are many dog owners, and they walk them past my house everyday. Some of them carry little plastic bags to pick up their dogs poop, as least they pretend to. I discovered that someone today had put one of those little bags in my garbage can. I mean how rude can that be to walk in someones yard and put poop in their garbage can? It really made me mad. I see too many people walking with their dogs without a leash. The dogs run free wherever they want to go,trampling down my flowers, pooping on my grass or attacking me and my own little dog. I love animals cause I have pets of my own. My dog is a little toy poodle, and I've had to grab him up in my arms to keep other dogs from jumping on him while we are walking. People are quick to tell me "oh he/she is friendly and it won't bite". Can we get real here? People can't know what other people are thinking, but yet they can know the mind of a dog and what its thinking? Maybe I could beleive them if the dog was toothless, but it would have to chew on me first before I would know that. Then if it has an attitude it could still try to gum me into submission. Don't assume that everyone loves your dog or even likes them for that matter. Be responsible take control of your animals, and don't allow them to run around in the streets without some restraint. Don't let them jump up on people just because their friendly. Take a minute and consider other peoples feeling. But More that anything use some freeking comman sense.

I think that all people walking dogs should carry little plastic bags with them in order to clean up after their dog or dogs. They should carry this with them until they find a doggy mess bin or if there are not any of these in the area they are walking they should take it home to put in their dustbin. I am so sorry to hear that your little toy poodle has been hurt by other dogs that have been running around free. I suggest that you think about putting a fence and gate so dogs don't trample all over your flowers. You shouldn't have to do this I guess, but as you can see not every pet owner is considerate. Good luck with the situation outside your home. I have two miniature poodles. I always make sure I have plenty of doggy bags before we set out for a walk. The track at the back of my house has a few doggy mess bins along it. So I collect my dogs mess in the bags and carry it to one of these bins. We also go to the beach quite a lot. There are not very many doggy mess bins and so I bring the mess in bags to my own dustbin. Both my two are friendly and play nicely with other dogs.

Thanks your your reply I also carry little plastic bags to pick up after my down. I bring them home to dispose of it. Once I walked out to open up garage door to get my car out and after I had been driving around for several minutes I discovered a foul odor comming from my floor, peddle, shoe. I didn't realize that I had stepped in this huge pile dog poop in front of my garage. Another glorious moment.

The only thing is that I can never catch them in tha act. They always make sure that no one is around when they do it or they walk their dogs at night. If they are seen then they will make the effort to pick it.

I also suffer from pet owners like them. I have a neighbor, two houses from us, who lets her dogs, (three of them)roam around our block 24/7. These 3 dogs maybe small BUT!!!They have skin disease because they have barely any fur left AND they chase anyone who passes them by. There were already countless kids riding on bikes that were chased by these dogs. They even growled at us when I walked my son to school. I was ready for them though. I was armed with my umbrella and if they have made a wrong move, they would be flying. There was also a time when I came home, to find her dog sitting right in front of our driveway. And then, she made a position and pooped!I was really stunned and kept looking at the poop. It's a good thing it didn't happen again. I also have a dog and it's a German Shepard. As much as I want to walk her in the neighborhood, I'm afraid that she'll run and I would be dragged away. And I'm very aware of my responsibilities as her pet owner. When there are times that she howls at long periods at night, I make some apologies to my neighbors the next morning. In that way, I want them to know that I care about how they will feel and think.

Maybe you should report the neighbor sounds like she really should not be allowed to own pets. It's very sad that many people will neglect animals. They don't deserve to be treated badly. It's also a hazard for the kids and adults. Thanks for sharing.

Yes I agree with you regarding people need to be more considerate. WE have people who own cats and they just let them roam and they come over here and spray our new boat, etc. That is one smell you can never get rid of, and it makes us so mad. We have tried to talk to the neighbors but they will do nothing about it. We live way out in the boonie but in a subdivision. So my husband told them if they don't keep them up he will take care of them. Well this didn't work either. And we have no pound around here. So what is one to do?? But I totally agree. We have a dog and she mostly goes to the potty in our own yard.

That' too bad about your neighbors, if something happened to their cat they would be the first one making a fuss. It's not responsible or considerate on their part in allowing their cat to roam freely causing other people problems. You're right about the cat pee it's almost a strong as a skunk. I also hate it when they make my garden their cat-box. Real stinky!!!

I agree with you 100% and I am a total dog lover- as you can probably tell by my avatar. My dog loves people- but I NEVER let her jump on anyone- if she is too excited when company comes- she just has to sit in her cage a while until she does calm down. I have a friend that owns two small mixed breed dogs and allows these dogs to jump ON the table when people are eating. I found this to be quite disgusting- then when I saw she basically rewarded this behavior by giving the dog something from her plate- Lets just say- I haven't eaten there again!

I'm also fed up with the rude pets owners. I think animals are human's friends, though I scare almost all of them naturally. But I still think they are the equal right to share the air, sunshine, etc. But most of the pets owners near my apartment are so rude. They never use the leash and let their dogs run freely. I'm not against feeding pets, but owners must try their best to avoid the inconvenience. They ought to use the leash in public, I think. Though they always say, "Take it easy, it won't bite." when their pets are barking. How can I believe them? Because my scare is inborn. But I also appreciate a few pets owners like Kickapoo, since I'm never against feeding pets. I'm eager about more and more educated pets owners.

I had a neighbor tell me her dog was friendly and it wound up nipping my hand when I went to pet it.

See that's what I mean. Who can read a dogs mind? Maybe it displaced aggression.

I agree, people should definitely be more considerate and responsible with their pets, especially those that they take out in public and expose to others. In populated areas, dog owners should definitely pick up their animal's excrement and save others from stepping in it or having to look at it. Similarly, I think that cat owners should be responsible and give their cats bells, as a domesticated cat should have no need to hunt.

Thanks for your comment. That's true about cat owners, I don't have a cat but I often see my neighbors cats who roam around freely. I personally would be afraid to allow my cat to do that because anything could happen to them.

Oh I know what you mean! I looked out my living room window a few days ago to see my neighbor standing there with her dog on a leash...allowing it to poop in my front yard! Our downtown area is very small...just one or two streets. There are a lot of little cafes and other nice shops on those streets and our local college sits adjacent to town. Needless to say, many people wander downtown for lunch. There are some folks who live in a nearby neifhborhood who walk their dogs downtown and let them poop on the sidewalks and don't stop to pick it up!! It is so inconsiderate. I have a dog and a cat and I LOVE animals. But when one chooses to be a pet owner, they should choose to act responsibly with the pet!

But is it people's nature to put doggy poop in a garbage bin on someone's private property? Maybe I will confront them by putting the poop on them, now that would be interesting!

I am lucky, because the neighborhood that we live in everyone is very careful with their dogs. They are always leashed when walking and we all carry bags to pick up any accidents along the way. I can't believe that someone would actually have the gall to put their dogs poop in your trash can! Some people! I am sorry that people in your area are not more pet smart. I hope that things get better!

you are so right! I walk my dog and I clean up after him. I keep him on a leash and would never let him in someone elses yard! sometimes when I take him out I have to hold him down because one of my neighbors let thier little kids walk her dog and it tries to fight mine. mine is alot bigger and would rip hers apart but I stop him. my other neighbor just opens the dor and lets his dog run loose. it is a real pain. not to mention the random dogs that come poop in my back yard. it is extreemly annoying.
