When we were setting family for the first time after marriage in the state where my husband was living, he set a house for us and bought provisions and vegetables. After reaching home from railway station, me and my in-laws found that my husband bought rice one kg and spices like pepper, mustard etc. also one kg each. cabbage one kg and chillies also one kg. The vegetables were horrible. Now of course he is an expert. How about you? Do you buy vegetables and provisions? How about your expertise? Any experience of any sort? Can you share with us please?

I'm okay at it, but only with vegetables and fruits that I buy often, like tomatoes and apples. A lot of the time I'm walking around the supermarket squeezing and weighing fruit thinking 'I have no idea what this is SUPPOSED to be like'.

What? Because I don't know what weight or firmness to look for when buying tropical fruit that only appears in my grocery store once a year, now I need a children's book?

Good or bad I don’t know, but I love shopping and buying groceries and vegetables is the most commong shopping that I do and enjoy. I try to look for the freshest products and here in india it is not difficult as we have a tradition of going to markets everyday and buying fresh fruits, vegetables, meat and fish. Nowadays its not so convenient because of the hectic schedule of everybody in the family, and supermarkets have also come up which stock a lot of raw and processed products. I don’t actually remember any goof-ups like the ones you have mentioned, but yes, we eat a lot of fish and selecting fresh fish is a real test for us. Usually the fish is of good quality but sometimes it just happens that the fish is not good. Then there is nothing we can do about it really!
