Do you think there is a point to lettuce?

I have heard people say they think lettuce is a pointless food and is only used to make things seem better than they are. They say it has no taste.
Others disagree saying that lettuce has a good texture and adds to the foods it is in.
What is your opinion?

I think lettuce makes a salad but only the iceberg lettuce I hate all these new weeds they call lettuce, and nearly all the restaurants use the weeds these days.

well they say you should eat your greens, it is the only greens I like.... :)
