The joys of raising a grandson

He's 14 going on 40. Argue with a stop sign---and win. Brilliant, messy, all of that which you would expect from most normal 14 year old boys. But what a pleasure. Watching him grow up and having the maturity to offer guidance where needed and to know when to stand down has given me a great satisfaction. Each problem, to me, is a challenge, not a real problem. If people would establish love and communications at an early age it makes things easier. I told my daughter, his mom, that I wish we had had him first pretty well explains it all. She is partly disabled and lives with us.

I am glad to hear of your joys. My teen daughter will be having a baby in December and I am sure that we will be doing the majority of the raising. I am excited but worried. I didnt know how I would feel about having a grandbaby but now that I know it is a boy I feel better. Time has a way of settling things down.
