It Only Takes a Second

The other day, the news headline was about a 7 month old baby that was left in the car on a scorching hot day for hours. Unfortunately, the baby died. This mishap was supposedly a result of her parents(one a pediatrician and the other a medical researcher) miscommunication of who was to drop the baby off at daycare. The mom had put the baby in the car seat that morning and left for work thinking the dad knew he was to drop the baby off at daycare. Since the car seat was faced to the rear the dad didn't know the baby was in the car. Two guys walked by the car and saw the baby, broke the window but it was too late. The baby had been in the car for about four hours in 104 degree heat. Sometimes, it only takes a second for us to slow down and communicate with one another. So, in the future slow down and don't let daily tasks and rigid schedules allow you to have an unfortunate event.

It is a shame that people are too consumed with work that they forget about their family. Both parents need to be incarcerated.

Honestly, I feel that their guilt and the loss of their child is far more of a punishment than any prison cell could be.
