I've always envy those who are free to travel around the world. Those people who seem to have any problem going in and out of the country. However, not everyone is fortunate enough to satisfy that desire. I am one of those unfortunate ones. It is because I was also unfortunate enough to be born in a country where things made us people here living very difficult for us. Poverty, unemployment and some issues that we have to face. Not to mention the difficulty for us here to acquire visa unless we chose to marry foreigners or if we are born with a silver spoon in our mouth. Others were lucky enough to have their wish answered due to various circumstances such as having someone to sponsor them abroad..sigh.... What else does Filipinos have to endure from these situations? Is there any hope for us at all? tsk tsk tsk..

I am a Filipino. I have travelled abroad. There are always problems entering other countries, even if you have a silver spoon in your mouth. We can't really blame alot of embassies for being suspicious of us since so much of our countrymen apply for visas then hide in those foreign countries.

Yes, life is not fair sometimes. People from places like the USA, Canada, Northern Europe and Australia have passports that are welcomed into many countries without a visa. Plane journeys from the USA or The UK can include so many bargains that it can be quite cheap to travel. It is a shame that poverty and unemployments touches the lives of so many people in the Philippines and other countries. Many Filipinos choose to work abroad so this is as good way for them to travel. I suggest that they save up for trips to neighboring countries like Indonesia, Malaysia or China. Using a travel guide like Lonely Planet's South East Asia on a Shoestring will help them to really keep costs down. Youth hostels or camping will be the cheapest types of accommodation. Good luck, I hope you get to go traveling one day soon.

hey eliezl, please be optimistic. I am one of those unfortunate ones, too. But I'm sure everything will be better if I keep working and have confidence in my heart. In my opinion, staying with my family happily is my desirable way of life no matter whether I can travel all the day.
