A database is a collection of logically related data elements that is organized so that its conntents can easily be accessed,managed,and updated.Database is often abbreviated DB.Traditional databases are organized by fields, records and files .A field is a single piece of information:a record is one complete set of fields :and a file id collection of records.For example ,a telephone book is analogous to a file .It contains a list of records,each of which sonsists of three fields:name ,address,and telephone number.A database consists of one or more files.For example,database of hospital includes a telephone book and drag list,etc.

Not much that I can comment on this as its all sated about the basic meaning of DATABASE(DB). It should be extended to the point for DBMS, look more interesting to read. Anyway thanks for your efforts to provide the notes.
