Obsessive-Compulsive Behavior

I used to have this really bad habit of picking my face. It had gotten so out of control that my doctor even commented on it a few times. It would always seem to become more insistent when I knew that I would be going out the next day. There I would be with all these scars on my face from picking it. It was very embarassing, to say the least. Try as I might, I could not break this habit. I did, however, finally manage to break it once I got out of a stressful relationship. I just kept telling myself that I was calm and unstressed. It didn't go away overnight, but I did conquer it. Have you ever had a compulsion like this? Did you eventually overcome this habit?

Wise1 ,I'm not sure this would qualify as the same type of obsessive-compulsive behavior as you describe But, I do have a habit of needing tools to be put away in the proper container or tool box after their use. I do a variety of tasks that involve both the construction and maintenance of Housing. Each task requires a different set of tools. I may have to do Finish carpentry one day and painting or electrical the next. For every task I use a separate location or tool box.Even when numerous tasks may require the use of a Screw driver for instance; I don't have just one Screwdriver for all tasks.I have one for each type of task located in it's own workbox. I think this helps me be more efficient on the job .Is this obsessive-compulsive behavior?Maybe...Maybe not But I don't plan on changing the habit anytime soon because it relieves stress on the job.

I am addicted to having everything clean, from the house, the yard, the cars, everything I can think of, my husband, our children and myself, its all got to be clean, otherwise I freak out... I dont know if you can call that a compulsive behaviour lol... Never have I picked at my face like that though... Anyway have a great day...

I have never had a compulsion like this, but I think you are brave for sharing your story. I'm sure it must have been a very destructive relationship if it brought out such a disorder. Were you ever diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder? Congratulations for leaving that relationship and being able to reflect and perhaps help others suffering in the same way.
