Language and Motor Development

Speech is produced by the coordinated actiity of the lips, tongue, throat muscles, larynx and lungs. Development of muscle coordination accelerates the development of speech. Motor development mediates also in the other forms of languages developments like the most initial stage of gestures and more mature skills as reading and writing. The child must attain certain stages in motor development for the imitation of simple gestures gfor binocular coordination in reading for general muscular coordiantion, eye-hand coordination and control over small muscles while writing.
