Gender equality in Christianity, Islam and Judaism

As most people are aware, there are a number of discriminatory laws within within Islam that says that a woman's word is worth only half of a man. I'm wondering if there are any such laws within Christianity and other major religions that are still in effect. And yes, I am aware of the Catholic law that women are not allowed to become Priests, as well as the weak argument against it. Any other gender-based laws you know that might seem ridiculous in today's day and age?

Where are you getting that Islamic law from? Historically women have had a LOT of power under Islam. They can get their own annullments/divorce, they're accorded with much respect... Are you sure you're not just repeating an urban legend?

Was informed of that one by a friend of Sam's. It's apparently said that a woman's word is only half of a man. I want to know if there are any other gender-based laws that are discriminatory and used against another gender to oppress them.

Doesn't sound like anything I've heard, and I've been schooled in it my whole life. Also, you need the context for things like these to make sense. (I'm not entirely sure Sam's friend would be an unbiased source ;P) ReligiousTolerance.Org is a great source for this info.

Hmm... I'll need to recheck on that.
