My family made the switch from ground beef to ground turkey. In your opinion have you made the switch and what do you prefer? Which do you find taste better? What health benefits do you get from either source? Have you come up with any interesting reciepes from ground turkey? Has it worked for you like ground beef?

Hi & Hello, channy626 (34);
I prefer turkey because its taste better than beef. Talking about benefits, I don't know but I like it. Some say good for our blood circulation. But I never bother about that.
The best way for me is marinate the whole meat with fresh tamarind(not a powder ready made) and salt, get it done by barbecue and serve with barbecue sauce.

My grandmother had to do that, and we lived with her for about 3 months... which left my mother never wanting to see ground turkey ever again. Yes, it can be used in place of ground beef in just about any recipe. But the flavor is rather bland. Strong sauces overpower it -- so sloppy joes made with ground turkey taste like nothing but sloppy joe seasoning and tomatoes. I think it's good every now and then. BUt I wouldn't want to eat it exclusively in place of ground beef. Yes, it's lower in fat, but not as flavorful.
Given the choice, I'd opt for ground buffalo. It has less fat than beef and more flavor.
