Do you think "everything happens for a reason"?

When i say everything, i mean "EVERYTHING". I do not believe this statement to be true. Everything is a lot of things. Here's an example; If i am asleep at night and my 2 year old daughter is asleep in the next room, and an intruder breaks into my home and kidnaps my daughter, then the kidnapper making the choice to take my child is the reason for her being taken from her home. If my daughter was kidnapped i would not say; "everything happens for a reason", i would say; "my child has been kidnapped because a person made the choice to take her". somebody is murdered because somebody made the choice to kill them, not because "everything happens for a reason".

i do believe in that coz no one knows what will happen next...i mean, in your example, choice is not made just because of choice, there something in it that made him choice that thing...there is still reason behinds it...

So true, there are reasons behind everything, but the statement "it happened for a reason" is not something that should be used when bad things like rape and murder happen. Saying something like; "it happened because that man was a sick and twisted individual".

Hi there. Yes I truly believe in that statement, "Everything happens for a reason" because sometimes, when it happens, the reason comes out later on or when you least expect it, and then you think, wow I know why that happened... This is my opinion and experience anyway... Have a good one...

Hi. Everything is a lot of things. What if there is a 2 year old girl and she is raped and murdered, would her parents one day suddenly realise why, and then say to themselves; "i know why it happened"????????????????? I doubt it very much. I said in the last response that; Everything is a lot of things. Some things happen for a reason, but there are some things that just should not happen.

I totally believe that everything that happens to us is a result of a reality that we create. perhaps we don not enjoy what we create but it is our non the less and yes everything is a lot of things

You said everything that happens to us is a result of a reality we create. But what about a 3 year old girl? If she is murdered is that a result of a reality she created. Everything is a lot of things. Some things do happen for a reason, but there are some things that shouldn't happen.
