Dealing with 'nay' sayers?

In our journeys through life, have you ever noticed that it seems you have left people behind? This year has been an incredible learning and growing experience for me. I love myself and love my life. Recently, I got engaged to a wonderful man. I am really happy. I don't spend a lot of time with my family. They are unfamiliar with the things that have changed for me. However, they feel free to make negative comments on my choices. They disapprove of the man I am to marry and have decided to "shun" me. Although, it is challenging, I am doing what makes me happy whether they like it or not. But, I still love them and hope this will get resolved. Have you ever dealt with people who cannot just be happy for you? How has that worked? Have you overcome this situation?
