When you were younger and single did you have a idea what your perfect mate looked like? Does your present mate look like him/her?Did you like blondes but your wife is brunette? Or did you dream that the perfect person was tall and thin yet the love of your life is short and stockly? When I was young, I loved boys with red hair. But I don't think my ideal mate will have red hair, but I can hope.

My dream "perfect" guy never had a certain look exactly. It was more emotionally the way he made me feel. Though I always did picture him having long hair. It took me a long time, I didn't meet him until I was 39, but he was definitely worth the wait. He's everything I wanted and (bonus) has long hair too! LOL

Well, when i was younger i wanted a handsome guy, one that all women will turn to keep looking at when we pass by, and I had such a guy. He wasn't the right partner for me however as he was lying very often and for whatnot, you name it. he wasn't cheating on me, but his nature was definitely wrong, and i broke with him a week before the weading. later I met my partner with whom I am still together, and even though he is a good looking guy, and for some even handsome, I can't say that qua looks he is my dream partner. he is the guy of my life however and i love him deeply and truly :)

That is all that matters. You two are happy together. I find that the guys that are good looking but not so breathtaking are better than the pretty ones. I bet your partner doesn't really know how beautiful he is.

Nothing like any of "perfect mates" I imagined. He is masculine, wears a beard, and is handsome more so than pretty. I liked pretty people when I was younger, boys and girls. Androgyny was really a big thing for me, if I wasn't sure what gender someone was, you can be sure I wanted them. *laughs* It's also a bit of a surprise to me that I married a man in the first place. I always figured I would wind up with a woman in the end, and it just didn't happen that way. Gods, do I love that man though. =p

Ah, finally, I found a topic which I can relate to sarahruthbeth22, as I am usually not knowledgeable about most of your topics. Thank you for this opportunity:-) Yes, I had a clear idea about what my ideal partner should look like or should be. But perhaps, then I thought that I was a little selfish about it. And, NO, my present partner is nothing like I thought but I love everything about her and I consider her a perfect mate. Interestingly, my definition of beauty and other good physical attributes also changed after my marriage. Now, when I think that how an idealy beautiful and attractive lady should look like? my partner comes to my mind, always. LOL! I don't know how it happened but it just did. I am a little amazed too over it because it is not common that I can't figure out the reason(s) behind some happening but in this case, this radical shift in my idea is almost totally clueless to me. I might think that it's because of the love that I have for her but then there are people whom I love but my idea about their physical attributes never changed. May be because I didn't used to look at girls as such and whilst the image of my partner is once printed on my mind, I don't find others more attractive than her. I don't know actually what happened and how it happened!, really.

I used to always imagine my future partner should be handsome, charming, he has a silver-white hair, and charming eyes, but I now hope that my partner is an ordinary person, this will reduce a lot of trouble .. lol ....

When we are young, we all want our bfs to look like Elvis. He should be tall, dark and handsome. Well, actually it does not work out quite like that. As I grew older, i realised that one lives with ones nature and not looks. So I settled for a short guy with a wonderful nature and 21 years from marriage, I still love him.

That is great. When I was young it wasn't Elvis, it was John Travolta. Tall dark and handsome.I have always liked red heads, so I guess my mate will have dark hair.

I never had one to be honest so I reckon he looks like it. I don't know I just never tried to picture anyone cause I was more into wanting a man with a good heart.

I always like someone who was between Cary Grant and Gregory Peck, tall, dark, and handsome with brown eyes. Well I sort of got the tall and dark part. And my husband is a little taller than me. Oh and dark, I do not mean African American. in those days, dark mean hair color. I was told that girls want guys who look like their dad's and he had dark hair, brown/hazel eyes, and he was tall.

My husband doesn't look like my dream partner. I don't know why, I always like people who wear glasses. However, my husband has perfect eyesight and he doesn't need to have a pair of glasses at all. Besides, he has small eyes and it is different from my imagination.

Exactly like I used to dream of! Funny thing is I didn't even realize it or think of that childhood "dream" until just now! Amazing. But now that I think of it my husband is all that I used to want and more. How lucky am I? :)

Hee hee! Funny post! My dream partner was always the rugged outdoorsy type......very aragorn-esque off the Lord of the Rings. My husband is not especially rugged, quite outdoorsy and very un-Aragorn-esque. I love him dearly though and wouldn't change him for the world.
