It was one hell of a birthday bash. My country is a beautiful, wonderful and unique country that lies within the Asian region. The nation was a colony of then British Empire and gained independence in 1957. SO, it is a golden jubilee for my country this year. Today, exactly, on 31st of August 1957, is the day Malaysia gained independence. There was a major celebration attended by many foreign dignitaries, including the Duke of (edinburgh? I forgot.. ) and the revered King of Thailand and lots others. Awesome sights and sounds, colours, music, fireworks, dance, cultural performances.. I watched it through the television and couldn't help but yell along 'MERDEKA!' (which means freedom in Malay). AS a Malaysian, I'm very proud of my country. I love my nation so much. What about you? For those of you who wants to know more about Malaysia, you are most welcome to visit this place yourself. Malaysians are a friendly and warm lot, we are more than happy to welcome visitors. Oh, and its the Visit Malaysia Year 2007, in conjunction with Malaysia's Golden Jubilee. There would be lots of events happening. =)
