What people never say is a lot of fish used for sushi in a restaurant had been flash frozen or smoked. Tuna and salmon is flash frozen and the extreme cold kills bacteria. Also, there are many types of sushi that use cooked shrimp, seaweed, vegetables, avocado, etc. Sushi is not just about raw fish - it is a culinary style. There is a lot you can enjoy if you decide you want to avoid raw fish.

Bacteria wouldn't die in extreme cold but will make it paralyze for the particular time. It will active when the warm temperature will hit them back. I agree with you that sushi can be made from other things too. There are a lot of sushi which I have seen made from a vegetables like cucumber and carrot.

I don't like sushi. I can't stand the smell of them, but my oldest son, and my niece love them. To me, anything that is half cooked is unsafe to eat. I guess after becoming a mom some 22 years ago changed my preferences. I have to be careful of what I feed my kids, so I associate sushi with an unhealthy choice. However, you can find sushi that is good for you, like all vegetables or something.

If I am not mistaken, sushi is made from some veggies, sticky rice and rolled in the seaweed. So if it is so, then sushi is very healthy for our body. The thing which I ave informed from a friend who is exporting a tuna to Japan for the use of sashimi is made from a raw tuna and be eaten together with the sushi, but at the same time there is a sushi which added with some raw salmon, meat or tuna in the rolls. I have receive an email from a friend which showing a brain of an old men in Japan who loves to eat sushi and sashimi every day. This men always feels pain in his head and when the doctor scanned the head the found out that there is something is moving under his scull. The doctor took his scull off and was shocked to see there is more than 1 thousand living worm in his head. The doctor said, this thing happen due to the half cooked meat or fish which he ate with the sushi. The worm from the meat goes up to his brain and live there and cause him to feel pain every day.
